Abstract

ABSTRACT

The Brazilian urbanization process, intensified after the 1930s along with the country's industrialization, was marked by socio-spatial inequalities, especially the center-periphery dichotomy. In recent decades, with the consolidation of individual transport between the middle and upper classes, the urbanization process takes on a regional scale, with arrangements dispersed in the territory, a phenomenon that has been consolidated in large metropolises, but is also already visible in medium-sized cities. The present study proposes to analyze the pattern of urban expansion and the processes of socio-spatial formation of the city of Londrina-PR, from 1990 to 2020, with a special focus on the patterns of land use and urban mobility established, and the impacts on society and the territory of these trends. As a database, aero photogrammetric surveys from 1991 and images from the Google Earth Pro software will be used to map and classify urban growth, comparing with the evolution of the vehicle fleet in the period, through the DETRAN-PR database, and the diagnoses of the Londrina Mobility Plan (2020). The analysis showed a trend of dispersed urban growth, with distinct patterns of socio-spatial occupation between the north and south sectors, which are reflected in the pattern of urban mobility, aggravating segregation.

Keywords: urban dispersion, individual transport, urban mobility, socio-spatial segregation.
