Resumen

O artigo busca investigar o processo de reestruturação territorial ocorrido nas cidades portuárias, a partir do movimento de conteinerização e das modernizações logísticas ocorridas globalmente em 1970, impulsionando a competitividade econômica acerca das rotas globais. Na contextualização da produção portuária latino-americana, tem como objeto de estudo o Porto de Valparaíso, que se desenvolveu historicamente como a Cidade-Porto mais importante do Chile. A pesquisa tem como objetivo a análise do processo de reestruturação do Porto de Valparaíso, através de avaliações in loco e análises do processo de modernização portuária que tem fundamentado o desenvolvimento do Porto, ante sua escala regional e o impacto no desenvolvimento econômico da Região de Valparaíso. Utiliza-se de uma pesquisa metodológica de métodos qualitativos (trabalho de campo) e quantitativos (mapeamentos) de avaliação territorial, que permitam compreender a reestruturação do Porto, por meio das dinâmicas históricas, econômicas e de estruturação urbana que impactam na relação Cidade–Porto.

ABSTRACT

The article seeks to investigate the territorial restructuring process that took place in port cities based on the containerization movement and the logistical modernizations that occurred globally in 1970, boosting economic competitiveness on global routes. In the context of Latin American port production, the object of study is the Port of Valparaíso, which has historically developed as the most important Port-City in Chile. The research aims to analyze the restructuring process of the Port of Valparaíso, through on-site assessments and analyzes of the port modernization process that has underpinned the development of Porto, in view of its regional scale and the impact on the economic development of the Region of Valparaíso. It uses a methodological research on qualitative (fieldwork) and quantitative (mapping) methods of territorial evaluation, which make it possible to understand the port reconstruction, through the historical, economic and urban structuring dynamics that impact on the relationship between the City and the Port.
