This papers attempts to make a contribution to the typological analysis of housing, including affordable housing. This study is based on an analysis of the characteristics of adequate housing, which is one of the Millennium Development Goals proposed by the UN, which has been evaluating and monitoring responsibility for the Programme UN-HABITAT.
In order to identify housing typologies a propositivist approach has been chosen (as it has been proposed by Wilhelm Dilthey and William James), which include experimental, quantitative, comparative aspects to analyze a reality know in terms of probability.
Concretely, a Graph Space Analysis (IAGE using the Spanish acronym) is proposed. This instrument has a composite structure of three dimensions: form, function, and sociopolitics. Such dimensions are linked to some variables and indexes constructed using concepts and graphical instruments. This is a quantitative approach constructed by qualitative concepts that allows to make a subjective and objective interpretation.Downloads
