Abstract

Nowadays, the process of urban growth, in the globalization context, is linked to the phenomenon of urban expansion, by means of two processes: urban densification and urban expansion.

This trend incentivizes the morphological change of cities, especially motivated for housing developments in the gated communities’ format, where the delimitation border is the wall. The phenomenon of urban sprawl is characterized by city structural elements as highways, which emphasize the articulation dynamics of new land developments.

This is the case of “La Primavera”, which is an independent city in the city of Culiacan (in the Mexican State of Sinaloa). La Primavera is a closed city, which embraces a huge land extension; this project supposedly “multifunctional” is clearly oriented to the wealthiest segment of Culiacan’s society.
