Abstract

The author considers diversity and connected processes of social change as the main feature of today's society and he thinks over the suitability of analyzing urban needs created by the diverse society. Diversity management means to rule respecting diversity in all social fields that is to say we must act in the city considering the changing needs of a complex and diverse society. The knowledge on links between diversity and city is still in the beginning but some pioneering works developed in districts with high rates of immigrated population show this a right path to go forward on requirements of the new urban needs and possible courses of action in the city. What happens in urban public spaces is of great interest to understand how new urban needs are created. Still there are more cases: mosques and churches, ethnic trade and so on.
