In this paper the imaginary that is behind the construction of the touristic model of Puerto Vallarta is discussed. With this aim, an analysis of the nature, the benefits and distortions that tourism produce over the communities where it is developed is done. The results suggest that in Puerto Vallarta, its image at international level, its urban structure and even the architecture typology of housing is built on the composition of imported elements, which have not any relation with its indigenous nature.Downloads
