City, public space and the building of citizenship

In this paper the multidimensional role of public space, as an element that promotes and give identity and cohesion to cities, is discussed. By analyzing the condition of public spaces in Guadalajara (Mexico), in the context of social necessities and environmental sustainability, some strategies addressed to improve the urban design of such spaces, are proposed.Downloads
