Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the set of algorithms that underlie the Econógraf-Demógraf model as well as illustrate its application in Catalonia as a territorial framework of the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona. The model has the task of prospective analysis on population trends, housing needs and employment. The main peculiarity is its intrinsically spatial character. As mentioned in the main article of the EVALUAMET project, the Demógraf-Econógraf model feeds from the outputs of the SIMCAT model in terms of transport times, and in turn supplies the Evaluaimpact model which quantifies some of the environment impacts produced by the implementation of new road infrastructure and urban projects, under an approach of environmental and social efficiency.
