Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the Information System and Modelization for the Evaluation of Territorial Policies of Catalonia (SIMCAT). SIMCAT includes a model for forecasting demand for mobility and traffic that allows to develop future travel matrices (models of generation, distribution and modal share) and then to obtain traffic on the road network (traffic assignment model), being also in charge of calculating consumption and emissions associated with the use of private cars. Within EVALUAMET system, have been integrated models of trip distribution and traffic assignment SIMCAT, providing traffic information, consumption and emissions needed for the evaluation of environmental impacts caused by the implementation of new road infrastructure and major urban projects. SIMCAT also provides time matrices at rush hours supplying information to the Econógraf-Demógraf sub-model.
