Peer Review Process

EXTERNAL ANONYMOUS PEER REVIEW

The Editorial Board of the journal, once it has verified that the article complies with the rules relating to style and content indicated in the guidelines for authors, according to the section to which it belongs, will send the article to two anonymous expert reviewers outside the Editorial Board, within the specific field of research and architecture criticism, for review or selection. The choice of these reviewers is made taking into account that there is no conflict of interest with the authors of the articles.

Peer review is performed using the double-blind system in all sections of the journal except the Back page and the interview. The system has two phases, abstract acceptance and article acceptance. The authors submit a first proposal in an abstract of about 300 words that is reviewed to three possible decisions of the editorial committee: the rejection of the proposal, the extension of the abstract to a broader version of 500 words that allows a synthetic idea of the author's proposal and finally the invitation. With the suggestions made by the reviewer to its full development it is asked an article of about 3.000/4.000 words following the instructions for the authors of the platform and which will be the object of the final assessment.

The final evaluation will affect the interest of the article, its contribution to the knowledge of the subject treated, the novelties contributed, the correct relations established, the critical judgment developed, the bibliographic references used, their correct writing, etc., indicating recommendations, if any, for possible improvement. Detailed materials and instructions are available to reviewers.

On the basis of the reviewers' recommendations, the journal editor will inform the authors of the reasoned result of the evaluation by e-mail to the address they used to send the article. The editor will inform the principal author of the result of the review (unchanged publication; publication with minor corrections; publication with major corrections; not suitable for publication), as well as the reviewers' observations and comments.

If the manuscript has been accepted with modifications, the authors must re-submit a new version of the article, according to the demands and suggestions of the external evaluators.

Depending on the degree of compliance with the requested modifications, the Editorial Board will decide whether to publish the article. One of the editors of the journal will communicate this decision to the author.
