Abstract

The exhibition held at Zaragoza’s COAA in the month of October is understood as a brief summary of the sequence “analysis, synthesis, sketch” that Manolo Baquero has probably carried out over 15.000 times throughout the last 40 years.

The documents exhibited are difficult to describe.
The artist calls them “pocket journals”. One might be tempted to compare them to Le Corbusier’s journals during his travels to the East, but, although they are both travel journals, the ones by Manolo are different. They
are probably closer to sketched -and, why not, also written- memoirs... It is essential to understand them as documents that record a life, that we see full of memories from the places visited and notes about the experiences lived at the moment of the pictorial production-... so cold!!!- or of personal reflections on an emotional moment.
