This article summarizes the research process of the thesis that the author conducted on the urban transformation of the first outskirts of Barcelona. As a benchmark of these transformations in European city during the last quarter of the twentieth century, Barcelona is recognized as a significant case because his last transformation is supported by various programs and projects carried out at different times but under the same technical coordination conducted by City Hall. The aim of the research was to conduct an analysis of this urban transformation, to account for the changes of urban reality from projects of different nature and scale, and a deficit in a heterogeneous urban environment as it is the first periphery
