Abstract

Climate change and the lack of planning in cities affect the quality of life of individuals and decrease their sense of security in the environment in which they live. However, what are the main characteristics of the urban environment that are most associated with the perception of risk of natural disasters? This paper presents the analysis of the correlation between the perception of risks of natural disasters and the main characteristics associated with public services and neighborhood maintenance and satisfaction with housing. The research collected data with the help of a questionnaire. The results showed that insecurity with environmental phenomena negatively influences satisfaction. The variables cleaning streets and sidewalks, water and sewage, internet and telephone and paving showed an inverse relationship. Thus, neighborhoods with public infrastructure services with quality and maintenance influence the perception of individuals about the feeling of protection against possible natural disasters in the environment.
