Abstract

The goal of this research is the development of a matrix of indicators and criteria of social, environmental and economic sustainability. The matrix is aimed to be applied in the evaluation of urban regeneration projects as well as in the evaluation of future projects of city interventions. The results of this research are to be used specifically with projects in obsolete neighborhoods in European cities, where not only habitability and energy inefficiency problems occur, but also problems of social and economic nature. As consequence the indicators and criteria are investigated under consideration of all three perspectives. The results already obtained show the connection of these three fields. For example an important indicator, which is described in detail in this text, is the minimum residential density: This indicator is not only related to environmental aspects, but it also has social and economic repercussions.
