Abstract

The city's development of Itá is an unusual case because 16,000 people were displaced from where they lived and relocated in another area defined by an urban project developed by the team of Hydroelectric Itá which started construction in 1967 and generated an artificial lake flooding original city in 2000. This research focuses on the ancient city Itá, the project implemented in 1989 and its current urban setting. Existing indicators and tested in many real cases will be used to obtain a secure and the data collected will compare the three phases of the urban system listed for the study. Besides the issue of the evolution of urban form and spatial configuration, which will also be studied socioeconomic impacts caused by the implementation of hydropower on the population of the town of Itá and Region, and later urban development.
