Abstract

The following paper addresses the problem of residential density in Greater Santiago, Chile, from indicators of gross and net density, the network density, the coefficient of gross floor / net area and the morphological analysis of selected urban fragments along a transect of 70 kms. in length. Thus, it seeks to explore the relationship between the quantitative and qualitative residential density and the various spatial and material expressions of "the urban realm" in contemporary Santiago.
