O papel contemporâneo do sistema de vias perimetrais da área central de São Paulo

Abstract

This paper analyzes the system of perimetral avenues to the city center of Sao Paulo from the point of view of their contemporary demands. Here are presented two complementary readings: one focuses on the identification and reading of plans and projects that somehow conformed the perimetral avenues system and the other concerns the contemporary understanding of this system from its relationship to the metropolitan transport system, the subway system, buses and expressways that supports the individual transport. From those considerations raises the possibilities of intervention given the relationship between a built physical infrastructure – perimetral avenues and areas to support public transportation – and the way the metropolitan public transportation system organizes itself within this infrastructure
