Abstract

This work presents an overall review of the “Racine operation” which started in 1963 as a touristic project of the French Government for the economic development in the South coast. It was in charge of the Délégation à l’aménagement du territoire et à l’action régionale (DATAR). In order to assert Architecture, Urbanism and Landscaping as elemental instruments in the tourist development in the French coast, we will deepen into de analysis of the original documents, since the published critics and the evaluation of the Languedoc-Roussillon project received, along with its known influence in the tourist world are being forgotten. We will, as well, point some considerations for the future.
