Abstract

Enjoying the sun and beach for the most number of people are the new requirements that the architects took as a challenge to the creation of the new architecture of tourism. The architects involved in the construction of Platja d'Aro share a long experience, and the influence of the early Modern Movement through groups like GATCPAC. All points of view, from the most theoretical to the most practical created an identifiable way to proceed. From J.LL. Sert to Vicente Carmenatti. Common requirements, the importance given to the relationship between the building and the environment through elements such as terraces, traditional materials and rationalist ideas, or the looking for innovation and tourist attraction, mark the identity of tourism architecture created between the sixties and seventies.
