Abstract

The study of urban dynamics is traditionally linked to several built environment factors such as density, land use, mixed use, morphology or socio-economic variables; but a new paradigm is rising: position factors and accessibility variables are becomingcritical in metropolis which are increasingly articulated on a diversity of mobility networks (Ascher, 2001). Thus, this paper proposes a framework to value both kinds of factors together. This is a necessary first step to better face the study of urban dynamics, as well as transport and land use planning integration, but also in order to defend a new notion: “multi-accessibility”. The framework is tested through the study of two dynamics that contribute to the discussion: urban retail concentration and bus ridership.
