Abstract

México is currently one of the few countries in the world that develops tourism projects from the State itself. To carry out this function was created in 1974 the National Trust Fund for Tourism Development (FONATUR), who planned and developed (between 1974 and 1984) five tourist coastal sites along the country, betting on sun and beach tourism as economic activator. The present work focuses in the analysis and interpretation of its five initial projects, delving into its gestation and, in particular, in its morphology and structure; and wondering, in addition, about its relationship with the physical and natural support. The conclusions points out that the projects are made of clearly identifiable and reproducible packets that are adapted to the characteristics of each environment.
