Abstract

This research seeks to understand the processes of removing of the low-income population in the city of Fortaleza and how, face this reality, social movements have organized themselves to fight and resist. For this understanding, the research analyzes different periods. Initially the 1970s, with the process of industrialization and housing policies that removed the poor to the outlying fringes. And subsequently the current period, when the population was again threatened with removal to the suburbs due to infrastructure works done to host the mega-event World Cup 2014 FIFA.
