Abstract

The Reconquista river basin is one of the three major basins in the metropolitan region of Buenos Aires. As a part of it, its construction and transformation was always mediated by the processes of urban growth in Buenos Aires and its plans. Indeed, since the mid-twentieth century, studies, projects and plans were made seeking to meet the various problems of this territory. In this regard, this study aims at analysing, on the one hand, the actual transformations that occurred and, on the other, the multiple points of views over the basin from the analysis of materials from which it was possible to identify four crucial moments to discuss how the basin was thought, which were the ideas and underlying concepts, which was the contextual paradigm, what issues were considered a problem and what intervention proposals were outlined.
