Abstract

This paper presents some results of an ongoing investigation into the commodification processes of the city of Buenos Aires and its impact on legitimate and illegitimate uses of urban space. The research objetive of this paper is to analyze the reactions, mechanisms of participation and resistance to the installation of a shopping center in Caballito, a central area of the city of Buenos Aires, in the context of urban transformation in recent years. The research methodology consisted of ethnographic observations and interviews to different actors involved in the public sphere in order to suspend and delay the authorization and construction of the mall.
