Abstract

What concerns us in this proposal is what do contemporary cities narrate and why, in order to understand how they change, and because of this, think of how we can study and project them into this century. We argue that it is necessary to examine the temporal dimension of the city from an artistic and creative approach, that is why we propose narrative like a perspective to approach to the city. We understand narrative in its epistemological part, as a way of understanding the world and life; and from there, we build a proposal to read cities. We test our narrative methodological process in three cities: Xalapa, Oaxaca (Mexico) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). However, for purposes of this paper, we present only Las Palmas, and we try to find the principal process of its transformation.
