Abstract

The research (Re)Viver as roças – Reabilitação participada das roças de São Tomé e Príncipe, comes as part of a scientific thesis, where the main objective is the design and implementation of the first phase of a participatory process of rehabilitation of the roças, promoting direct and active involvement of local communities in the decision-making process for the places they inhabit. This issue arises as an opportunity to seek an answer to the current state of mischaracterization and abandonment that is felt in most roças of Sao Tome island. The process (Re)Viver as roças studies a set of concepts that relate with participation and involvement of local communities, seeking to illustrate these concepts with the support of the reference processes from other contexts, to later apply them in the communities of the roças of Rio do Ouro and Ponta Figo.
