Abstract

The Brazilian cities that emerged after the 1930s assume common characteristics, a period in which Brazilian modernism manifested itself, resulting in the lowest priority of the public space. Pinhalzinho / SC was one of them. However it is considered small, the population increased by 33% in 10 years and encompasses, within a radius of 12 km, another 11 small municipalities commercially dependent. Considering this scenario, the study started from the premise of the necessity of the individual analysis, since these changes occur with great speed, reproducing spaces having the car as a scale. The objective of this research was raise the perception of the inhabitants of the municipality of Pinhalzinho on the place where they live. Therefore, the method used was the city's imageability (LYNCH, 1997). The results confirm the city's lack of identity due to unplanned growth.
