AS TRANSFORMAÇÕES DA PAISAGEM URBANA NO BAIRRO PRATA: 1940-2019 [THE TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE URBAN LANDSCAPE IN THE PRATA NEIGHBORHOOD: 1940-2019]

Resumen

O artigo trata das transformações urbanas ocorridas no bairro da Prata, Zona Oeste de Campina Grande, segunda cidade mais populosa da Paraíba, estado do nordeste brasileiro. O bairro teve sua origem e consolidação vinculadas ao processo de modernização e industrialização regional, surgindo oficialmente na década de 40 do século XX em um contexto de renovação da paisagem urbana. O objetivo é discutir as alterações de uso e formas de apropriação do solo urbano e das edificações, além de problematizar a discussão referente a conservação da paisagem cultural campinense. Mais especificamente, esse texto objetiva investigar o surgimento, desenvolvimento, consolidação e transformação do bairro mediante análise dos Planos Diretores da cidade.  Para verificar as hipóteses e procurar caminhos ou respostas para os questionamentos, a pesquisa vem se apoiando em metodologia da história da arquitetura e do urbanismo desenvolvida por Serra (2006) que propõe o estudo do objeto compreendido como um processo, que dialoga com um sistema que o circunda, composto por aspectos geográficos, históricos, sociais, culturais, econômicos, políticos.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with the urban transformations that took place in the district of Prata, West Zone of Campina Grande, the second most populous city in Paraíba, state of northeastern Brazil. The neighborhood had its origin and consolidation linked to the process of regional modernization and industrialization, officially appearing in the 40s of the 20th century in a context of renewal of the urban landscape. The objective is to discuss changes in use and forms of appropriation of urban land and buildings, in addition to problematizing the discussion regarding the conservation of the cultural landdscape of Campina. More specifically, this text aims to investigate the emergence, development, consolidation and transformation of the neighborhood by analyzing the city’s Master Plans. To verify the hypotheses and look for ways or answers to the questions, the research has been based on the methodology of the history of architecture and urbanism developed by Serra (2006) that proposes the study of the object understood as a process, which dialogues with a system that it surrounds it, composed of geographical, historical, social, cultural, economic, political aspects.
