The term mobility adds a new meaning to the definition of transport. It includes the possibility to
establish relationships and satisfy needs, uplifting the traditional understanding of the “moving
around the territory" action. In general, improving the experience of mobility means that the
sensation of wasted time during the journey can be avoided. To shorten the time spent during
the journey or to include activities on route, can contribute to the feeling of "well-spent" time,
enjoyed time. The approach to these issues in relation to enhance the touristic destination experience,
underscore the interest that the tourists mobility experience, at the destination place, could
have.
The aim of this study is to analyze and discuss the mobility practices linked to the improvement
of the touristic experience in a sun and beach destination, such as Benidorm, which combines
natural attraction with other leisure activities.
Specifically, this paper addresses some of the issues that define the mobility systems found
within the touristic environment. These include: itineraries, modes of transport and associated
places of particular attraction.
Therefore, the qualitative study of mobility practices associated to the touristic experience,
yields interesting facts about the differences between the conventional mobility systems and
those systems related to sun and beach touristic activities.
