Abstract

Despite its continuing consideration, urban mobility remains as an unresolved issue that provoke challenges of diverse nature; two of them seem particularly relevant: the efficiency based on ensuring access and the traffic flow and quality, these two aspects suggest either the correct integration or the isolation of the various systems. In a spatial model, one that leans to contain shared, fragmented, and frequently unsuited spaces, where the place for the pedestrian is relegated, recovering a dedicated space for pedestrians is the most important challenge. An exclusive pedestrian network can not only improve urban quality, but also introduce a new logic of thinking to the models of movement in cities.
