In 1984, an interdisciplinary seminar about the Roads of Barcelona took place At that moment, the concern was to complete the road system of the city and recover the civic character of the roads. The pressure of the vehicular traffic had turned the streets into authentic urban highways and in many cases, as in Glasgow, the city had been devastated by the car fever. The academy was betting on roads that integrate urban life, rejecting the automobile model. The ideas from the professors who integrated the new democratic municipalities, contributed to redirect the former situation towards a new civic road. Years later, the streets had been appropriated by intermodality without mercy. The picture is bleak and the paint is already climbing the sidewalks in the damn super blocks.Downloads
