A largely and historically extended commercial system is a characteristic of Barcelona’s historic center. The persistent and profound relationship between the system, urban structure, and its streets nature, had led to the formation of an intense commercial concentration along high levels of specialization. The new imported retail models and the “touristification” of traditional urban displaced the local commerce, modifying among others, the historical urban landscapes and its problematic functional balance. Is it possible to perform our usual daily routines in the old town?Downloads
