Abstract

The urban policy context is characterised by a multiplicity of actors who bring to the urban debate a differentiated range of contributions, both immaterial and material, human capital and economic capital. In particular, for the last few decades, the contribution of actors not only from the public and private sectors, but also from civil society, the third sector and philanthropic finance, has been particularly noteworthy. Indeed, the reshaping of the new welfare state and a climate of perpetual crisis, combined with the exceptional situation related to the pandemic, have meant that philanthropic actors are now more involved in urban areas than ever before. Through this research, with the study of some significant European and Italian public policy documents, it aims to establish the present and future relationship between urban policies and philanthropic actors and it will highlight how urban regeneration can represent a link between these.
