Abstract

The urbanization process, analyzed through sustainable development, motivated the analysis of the Coastal Watershed, State of Paraná, Brazil, and your water resources plan as a management instrument. The analysis was made through the process of urbanization, urban space and urban planning through the socio-environmental concept. For the development of the article, research questions were defined to find out if the water resources plan is capable of identifying specific and socio-environmental problems of the territory, or if only a high index of preservation guarantees the quality and quantity of water in the watershed, and if low sewage treatment rates can compromise the water quality of an environmentally conserved watershed. The main information used is related to the geography location of the watershed, from urban areas and the position of the watershed in relation to the Serra do Mar, a region of high slope with low agricultural aptitude and highly protected by law, but high remaining loads of biochemical oxygen demand that are related to the generation of sewage. and lack of efficient treatment. It concludes with the need for a multidisciplinary analysis of urbanization processes, especially for the portion of the population that lives in environmentally fragile areas.
