The "Vías Verdes" program in Jalisco, Mexico, rescues the patrimonial infrastructure of the disused railroad, existing in the state of Jalisco, Mexico; with the purpose of reusing it with three main paths and safe itineraries of non-motorized traffic (pedestrian, equestrian and cyclist).

All this, under the premise of recovering the local identity as well as being an alternative communication for the population of the localities, delegations and population centers through which passed this important means of communication dating from the early twentieth century. It pretends, at the same time, promote the practice of cultural and natural tourism, communicating through these paths of non-motorized mobility with the intention of preserving and keeping alive the cultural heritage of the different municipalities and their communities that integrate them.

The long and tedious processes of management of public resources in the Mexican case of the different levels of Government (Federal, State, Municipal), and legal procedure for the transfer of property, the high cost in the maintenance of communication channels, the work of cultural promotion and dissemination of the site, and of course, the complexity that implies the implementation of a cultural strategy that allows the preservation of the natural environment, that can develop the expressions intangible culture such as: traditions, crafts, languages, gastronomy, etc.; and of course, all the tangible cultural heritage of each region without transgressing it, make that program take on another meaning.
