Infrastructural landmarks as triggers for the architectural project

Abstract

The present text outlines the methodology used in the integration of two intermediate-level courses in the architecture program at the Universidad Católica del Maule, Chile, based on the valorization of the infrastructures that make up the peri-urban landscape of the city. In a context where access to reference works is limited and bibliographic review feels distant, an approach to the spatial and constructive reality of these infrastructures is proposed as a trigger for the project, through a metacognitive process that begins using analog tools for surveying, representation, and modeling, to generate new configurations of these artifacts and their parts. The workshop is presented as an opportunity to bring students closer to the complexity of the project and opens opportunities for reinterpreting the territory, postponing the review of references and the use of digital tools until the end of the process.
