Abstract

The pedagogical proposal aims to integrate technical knowledge (construction and building services) into architectural design within the context of a Professional Master of Architecture, employing active methodologies, collaborative work, and digital tools. The objective is to move beyond the traditional subordination of the technical to the design dimension, fostering a more integrated and horizontal approach. It delves into a teaching experience articulated between two subjects and conceives the design project as a tool for transversal learning. The methodology also offers an insightful perspective on how the early incorporation of technical criteria into the design process can generate new knowledge. Its value lies in presenting a successfully implemented solution rather than opening a speculative horizon; nevertheless, explicit references to simulation tools, critical reviews, and self-assessment.

Author Biographies

Adolfo Pérez Egea, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena

He is an Assistant Lecturer (PhD) at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, in the area of Architectural Graphic Expression. Previously, he carried out his teaching and research work as an Associate Professor in the area of Architectural Constructions. His research focuses on the analysis of digital visualization and modeling techniques.

Gemma Vázquez Arenas, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena

She is a Tenured Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Building Technology at UPCT, in the area of Architectural Constructions. Her main research lines include thermal analysis, geomatics, and quality indicators in university degree programs.
