This paper presents a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) experience between the Universidade da Coruña (Spain) and the Illinois Institute of Technology (USA), developed during the 2024–25 academic year. The project connected two courses—Fundamentals of Fashion Design and Visual Training I—which, from the fields of fashion and architecture, share a common concern: training the eye. Through visual exercises and joint sessions, core design principles such as proportion, light, and composition were activated, creating a shared international, critical, and experimental learning space. The experience allowed design to be explored as a transversal language and validated the potential of research by design in interdisciplinary contexts.
