Abstract

Teaching Urbanism in the School of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Zaragoza aims updating the conceptual and methodological bases of the Urban Planning and Design discipline through various teaching strategies. In the text, a balance is made of the experiences corresponding to the deployment of courses from the beginning of the Architectural Degree to the present (2008-2018) from the teaching project proposed in 2009 as coordinator of the area of Urban Planning and Design. The approach of the 'School of Zaragoza' tries to balance traditional forms of learning with an innovative spirit: learn by analyzing plans and projects; learn reflecting on theories and urban methodologies of relative validity, learn by projecting, planning and proposing urban interventions in contexts of 'real urbanism', without renouncing experimentation in various forms of emerging urbanism.
