Abstract

The classrooms are a space of opportunity for knowledge, debate and research on the problems and challenges that many rural areas of our country are working on. Therefore, strengthen collaboration and cooperation between universities, local authorities and citizens is needded. It can be done through the participation and transfer of human and technical resources that increase their potential with respect to the identification, analysis and use of endogenous resources, for the local development of these areas and the training of students. This project was born in this framework, using the service-learning methodology, seeking to articulate and involve the students of the subject "The City and the Environment" in a new context. It involves attending to the needs of a real customer, such as a City Council, or citizen demands. Also, with this methodology, students reach a first professional approach to urbanism, while interacting with the different agents involved in a population (mayors, councilors and neighbors) in all phases of the project.
