The planning, the urban project and the management of the city, still develops through functionalist approaches and from tight disciplinary compartments (architecture, engineering and diverse professions that intervene in urbanism). A possible disciplinary mainstreaming can be promoted from the professional academic training itself, if common approaches and methods and work tools are established that allow to share visions and pose a common language. From some subjects of urbanism of the UPC of the section of Urbanism Escuela de Caminos de Barcelona, for already two decades, it is developing an approach that uniting the morphological and topological vision of the city and the territory, is allowing to incorporate the use of new technologies and mapping as instruments for an approach to an interdisciplinary urbanism.
