The Maule´s Bride, recreation 1:1 scale

Abstract

The lack of spatial experiences makes difficult the architecture teaching during the first career years, at Maule´s Region, Chile. The Architecture School of Universidad de Talca, since the year 2000, has assist the students with 1 to 1 experiences that tackle the gap they´ve carry with them. Between the years 2012 and 2014 we worked on re-build paradigmatic houses, 1 to 1 scale, in fabric, as a way to rapidly but certainly configure the main features of the chosen case study house. With this exercise the students could experience the notion of space, scale and impact of the studied case.  At the last version of this exercise we achieved to take the house into the region territory in order to acknowledge not only the house inner features, but how the house change and mutate when faced to each new context, and vice versa, how the context get an impact when facing the house.
