Abstract

This article presents the results of an investigation on the viability of a distance teaching of Architecture, adapting the face-to-face teaching model using ICT. The study analyses the Urban Design and Planning courses of the Toledo School of Architecture in Spain where, due to the confinement caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the students experienced both teaching modes. Through the analysis of a questionnaire designed to collect the student's perception of both modalities, the study shows: a) a degree of satisfaction with non-face-to-face teaching that, in general, is not significantly lower than with face-to-face teaching; b) the greater effectiveness and efficiency of the face-to-face model; c) the possibility of incorporating some of the distance methodologies into face-to-face teaching; and d) the negative effect on the student's experience derived from problems with ICT.
